We don't want our team to sit through a boring lecture and have a mountain of notes to sort through. How do you go about really engaging the participants?

We take great pride in bringing you a positive experience with our Training for the Real World. To provide a constantly challenging and innovative knowledge environment, a variety of techniques are utilized in course delivery to promote retention and enhance learning. Among these are:

  • Designing programs with adult learning principles in mind to effectively facilitate knowledge transfer
  • Developing action plans are developed so that participants will have a clear link from learning to implementation on the job
  • Providing job aids for use upon program completion
  • Appealing to all learning styles through Kinesthetic, Auditory, Visual, and Mental exercises
  • Building a learning culture, where everyone has the opportunity to be a learner and a teacher
  • Balancing design between physically active and passive learning activities within modules
  • Being open to changes, flexibility within the program and with the on-going design, adapting to group and individual needs
  • Ensuring that no more than 30% of time is focused on the instructor (Theory), with the other 70% devoted to learner activities (Application)

Our employees are geographically dispersed. It's difficult to get everyone together for traditional classroom training. What would you recommend?

Canadian Management Centre is excited to be able to offer state-of-the-art delivery to help get the information to the people who need it regardless of their geographical location. We can deliver a traditional classroom event in our interactive, collaborative E-Classroom environment. Our partnership with Harvard Business School Publishing provides leading edge, actionable resources and tools to help increase the effectiveness of your team. They are accessible 24/7 so employees can benefit anywhere, anytime. These on-line solutions can be integrated into a total blended learning program to encourage a continuous learning model or they can be used as stand-alone solutions.

We often run on-site courses in our company, but we find that people forget what they've learned or don't end up applying it in their day-to-day jobs. What can we do to make sure our investment extends beyond the training day?

We are committed to helping create an environment where changed behaviour is sustained to maximize performance impact. And with the practice change that most companies hope to achieve with learning interventions, it is critical to continue reinforcing the key messages, revisiting the action plan and pulling together as a group to support and encourage each other and grow towards meeting both company and individual goals.

To help facilitate this process, we can arrange for a Learning Integration Follow-Up Session. This session is scheduled 2 to 4 months after the original training to celebrate successes, review action plans, identify real and potential roadblocks then discuss ways to break down barriers to success with the help of peer-to-peer feedback and the benefit of the facilitator's experience

Some of the solutions that we propose for ongoing learning reinforcement include: Coaching, Leadership 360 Assessment Tool, Harvard Business School Publishing Online Resources.

We're interested in one of your programs for the team but we need it to be shorter. Can this be done?

Yes! In some situations, we are able to reduce the duration of the course provided that the target audience has similar backgrounds and expectations. We can also prepare pre-course work so that the time in the classroom can be maximized. Additionally, we can prepare a "priority grid" that you and your team can complete which prioritizes the areas requiring the most focus. This information helps us in the overall program delivery strategy.
